What an absolute honour to be recognised as a QLD State Finalist at the Australia Post Regional Pitchfest in Toowoomba last night! A huge Congratulations to David Crane from SiteSee for being awarded the winner and to our very own fellow Cairns finalist Charlotte Williamson from DogSlim for being awarded runner up! Also Congratulations to Anne-Marie Walton from Wantu for taking home the Community choice prize. It was a real pleasure to work closely with our Queensland Cohort which also included Charlie and Paul Aubin from BOG OUT.
The event started with an early Tall Poppies breakfast with an amazing panel of ladies including Australia Post's Rebecca Burrows, Regional Pitchfest's Di Somerville, Fleur Anderson from The Cahoots group and Joy Taylor from Canvas CoWorking in Toowoomba.
After squeezing in a few more practice pitches, we made our way over to the auditorium for a rehersal and bump in for 'Start Up Alley'.
We mingled with the judges including The Shark Tank's very own Steve Baxter who loved the cherrygift concept! Still waiting for you to 'show us the money' Steve!!
The time had finally come to pitch cherrygift to the judges which also included Lisa Jenkinson from KPMG and Rohan Workman from MAP (Melbourne Accelerator Program). It was great to see the stuffed toy of 'Nemo' sitting on the table as a gentle reminder to Steve to take off his 'Shark' hat.
After the longest interval in the world, it was time to announce the winners... sadly we didn't take home a novelty cheque but we did have the time of our lives and it was great to spread the cherrygift word!
A very BIG Thank You to Di Somerville from Regional Pitchfest and Australia Post for allowing us to be a part of your journey. Also thanks to Adam Drummond from Reech TV for streaming the event LIVE and also calming the nerves with your funny quotes! It certainly topped off the night!
